Gain and Loss

Right about the time we found out I was pregnant, Sandy decided he wanted to change his lifestyle and get healthy.  Watching what Dad went through, impending fatherhood, and a general desire to just feel better about himself all factored into his decision to change eating habits and start exercising.  He’d started with small steps back last year, but really got serious in the last 4 months – giving up sweets and caffeine, dipping smaller portions, starting an exercise routine, and saying no to dessert.  All about the same time as my pregnancy weight gain really kicked in.

For the last 11 or 12 weeks, I’ve watched him exercising every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights from the comfortable reclined position on the couch with a plate of Oreos resting on my ever expanding belly shelf and a glass of milk on the end table next to me.  I’d fall asleep while he was still pounding out push-ups and squats.  For every pound I gained, he lost almost two.  His original goal was to drop forty pounds from his heaviest weight before baby Nate made his appearance.  I’m so proud to say he’s met that goal with two weeks to spare and is working hard to burn off 5 more pounds before the big day.

Here are some before & after photos.

I know I say it often, but I just want to say it again –  I am so proud of you, Sandy!!

So, where did all the weight Sandy lost go?  Part of it ended up here:

Thanks for agreeing to serve as my personal trainer & motivator when it’s my turn, Sandy.
