We have exactly 6 weeks left before the big day. (Although, Nathan, if you wanted to make your appearance a few days sooner, I wouldn’t mind the least little bit.)
We’re slowly getting ready! The nursery is almost done. I still need to hang curtains and find something to go on the wall over the crib. Here are the vinyl wall stickers I ordered off the internet:
Giraffe Growth Chart
The bird on the limb looks like the Twitter image
Daddy, Mommy, and baby elephants over the changing table
Here’s the adorable blanket that Cathrein made for me!
She matched the colors to the crib set perfectly!
I have a ton of size 2 diapers, a box of wipes, and a couple dozen little gowns and onsies that look entirely too small for any human. When I hold them up to my belly, however, it looks like he has a bit more growing to do before they’ll fit.
He’s officially big enough that I’m not really feeling punches and kicks. It’s more like rolling motions as he wiggles and turns. My belly looks like I have an alien living it that attempts to escape every now again. It’s so entertaining to just sit and watch as the lumps move around.
Notice the weird lump on the right side of my belly.
He still responds to his daddy’s touch. We were sitting in church the other day & he was wiggling so much that I was laughing at him during the sermon. Sandy reached over and put his hand on one of the larger lumps (no way to know if it was heads or tails) and Nate quieted right down for the rest of the service. Sandy’s hand works just about every time.
I’m moving at the speed of light (heavy on the sarcasm) these days. It takes a full 10 minutes for me to walk from the parking deck to my desk – a trip that used to take 3 minutes. I officially gave up on stairs after I klutzed out in the bathroom at work and fell over while standing still. No injuries except to my ego, but it gets a bit frustrating waiting for the elevator just to go up or down one floor. I don’t *think* I’m waddling yet, but the structure of how I walk (not just the speed) has changed. Maybe it’s the pre-waddle? I can’t get myself off of low surfaces (the couch, some chairs) without help. Good thing Sandy is working out so he can haul me up from sitting and laying positions! There’s heartburn and random hunger… my contacts don’t fit as comfortably… turning over at night is a feat in and of itself… I have my own stall in the bathroom. My body is truly not my own any more – a precursor of the rest of my life and something to which I’m truly looking forward.
It blows my mind how much I love this kid even though I’ve never met him.
